The summer announcement season is in full swing. E3 might still be dead (or hibernating?) but it's spirit lives on thanks to big announcement showcases like the latest of Playstation State of Play. Sony kicked things off this week with the reveal of Resident Evil 4 Remake and then delivered a bevy of PSVR2 announcements, a Street Fighter 6 reveal, and a release window for Final Fantasy XVI! With Summer Game Fest and the Xbox / Bethesda showcase looming, we also dedicated some time to talking predictions. In the 2nd segment, Brad delivers impressions of Nightmare of Decay and Nick and Chris finally dive a little deeper into Horizon: Forbidden West now that Elden Ring is in the rearview mirror.

Brad’s Four-Player-Minute really hits the nail on the head with what feels weird about game announcements right now. So much discussion is focused on the spiritual successor-this, remake-that when we already have those original games waiting to be played. People can be excited for the new graphic fidelity of the remakes of Dead Space and Last of Us. It’s just beyond that and some mechanic tweaks, what else is there to say? What’s old is new again, and for 70$.
