You knew it was coming. We all did. With the release of Max Payne 3 just a few months from now and GTA 4 having released back in 2008 it seems that Rockstar has finally admitted that it was about time for them to unveil one of the worst kept secrets in the industry today.
No details as of yet except for a date for their unveiling trailer: November 2nd. Judging from the logo however once can discern a couple of possibilities as to where the game will take place. In my opinion, given the distinct currency-esque look I'd say that it takes place in either a GTA version of Washington D.C. or, in a more likely scenario, the city of Las Venturas, last seen in GTA San Andreas and Rockstar's version of Las Vegas. Speculation aside, this is the major news for the day so go run and tell all your buddies in Battlefield 3 that the cat's out of the bag.
Go on, I won't stop you.

Awesome, I can't deny that I'm excited. Even if other people are tired of GTA games, Rockstar as a developer always delivers. I already know this will be a Day 1 purchase for me.

The twitter feed updates are oddly worded 'Grand Theft Auto 5 Announced by Chris Davis'
Also saying 20% MORE roman numeral refers to it being 20% more than IV. 5 is 1 more than 4. 25% of 4 is 1. So mathematically wouldn't it be 25% more roman numerical?
Or Alphabetically 50% less? being that 'V' has 1 less letter than 'IV'.
Regardless. GTA V OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

I was dissapointed in what GTA IV offered. After playing Just Cause 2 and seeing crazy ass Saints Row 3 gameplay my excitement for this game isn't really there. Maybe this game will turn out better than I think.

Skip Las Venturas, just make a whole next gen San Andreas. THEN I'll be excited.

Oh look, another game we must add to the list. (Can't say that's a bad thing though.)

It'll be hard for me to build hype for this after Saints Row.

I think it is a bit stupid to "remake" liberty city, then "remake" Las Venturas, but I don't think they are going to use Washington. Maybe the money look means that you play as a member of the mafia? I don't know what money has to do with the mafia, it just feels right. Plus, they could make another "Niko" character, just make him Italian.

the fangirl inside me is spazzing out, man! I, too, would love an HD remake of SA. But I think it will just be LA.

From the green of the V and the old school bond around it in my opinion suggests Ireland (the royal bond (and the pattern in the V strongly suggesting an alcolic beverage which also is a big feature in Ireland)
Maybe a football hooligans in ireland, irish mafia? we don't know, I'll be interested in seeing what the trailer brings it out to be.
The V looks kinda cheap tho, hope it's not the final logo..
either way, I'm excited, hopefully after red dead and max payne 3 they'll have good gameplay! =O

I was very active on various GTA forums back before GTAIV came out. Back then the game held so much promise, but what we finally got wasn't what we expected at all. It was a huge let down, honestly. I've been a fan of the GTA series since the original top-down games so I really hope that this game will turn out a lot better. I still have faith in Rockstar to deliver a game worthy of the series I love so much.

Can't wait to see the trailer. Hope it's just as cinematic as the others, especially IV. A Washington D.C. setting would be interesting, but I'd be worried about it raising red flags among politicians. A Las Vegas style city would be neat though.

Wow, announcing a release date for a trailer! Better be good.

Boom!

A lot of people are saying it looks like it will be a D.C. esque setting based on the current casting calls we've heard about and the fact that the texture of the V and the font of the 5 look like money. I'm sorta inclined to agree, and I really hope that's the case. Though I don't know how the government will react to me being allowed to go on a rampage in a mock up of the capital.... lol

Well, it has been a long while since they've done a GTA outside of the States, so here's hoping they try something new.
Though judging from the V loge, I agree with the author. Its probably gonna be a famous city.

I was just thinking, going off of the recent rumors that a new xbox could be released as early as 2013, do you think they might hold off till then? It really wouldn't make sense for them to release with only a year left in the life cycle of the biggest console on the market (aside from the Wii I suppose). It would be a great move for them to have it be a launch title, and I'm sure that they would really be able to use any extra power the new console might be able to give them. Just a thought, of course.
