Back a few months ago, I was exstatic. I was on the Club Nintendo Platinum list and they were going to send me a special gift. I was eagrly awaiting what it was, but now it looks like it's gotten a little more complicated. They've given me a choice between a Mario Replica Hat and Doc-Louis' Punch-Out.
On the one hand, the Mario is usable. I could actually wear it making it's usefulness and worth much more lasting than the downloadable Wii game. But then again who's to say I would take it out of the plastic to wear it anyways.
The Doc-Louis' game is cool I guess. I'd be able to box against my trainer and smack him in the face for all the useless information he's given me over the years. It's exclusive to Platinum Members so it'll be neat to check it out on the feed, but I really don't see it being that fantastic or all that different. I mean really how much could there really be in it?
So I'm gonna ask for some help for you guys,
Which would you go with?
David

I got the same e-mail and I have the same dilemma, I was gonna post it on the forums, but I figured you would put it on here. haha and I was right. tough choice
16 years ago
Wow that is a tough choice....
You could have someactual item you can hold in your hand or an exclusive platinum member game.
imo i would choose the hat for nostalgia reasons and some bragging rights.

I would go with the Mario Hat, just because I'd rather have something to display than a game I'll only play for a while.
opps, I forgot to put my choice haha. Personally I am thinking about going with the Hat, but I'm still not 100% How about you get the game, and I'll get the hat, and you can have it. I'm not really gonna use it anyway. Just give me credit =P

Well the hat isn't going to get you laid... :P
I dunno, I'm not really into Nitendo, but if I had the choice, I'd go with the hat. It has a better shelf life than some extra content for a game you won't bother playing in 4-6 months.

It's pretty obvious I think. A game that could just be a spin off of Punch Out, with no new features or major changes, or an icon of video gaming that could be cherished long after Super Mario fades away (unlikely).
Do the Mario.

I'd go with the hat. Even if you don't wear it, it would make a cool collectible. An exclusive collectible, at that.
It's a good game and all, but the hat is better in my opinion. Besides, you could wear it around on the podcast and watch Brad and Nick be jealous.
Hm... this is a very hard choise... I would take the hat because it has a longer lasting use. The game would be fun for the first few week but then it would just be wasted space on your wii. And if you ever want to get rid of the hat after a long time, its price would go up and up as the years go by, so you could sell it on ebay!
i would go with something that you could actually hold in your hand....but thats just me.
Well, I'd go with the Mario Hat. Punch-Out is good, but once you finish the game, I don't think you'll be playing it over and over. And the Mario Hat seems like a much better choice for showing off. Not like a Douche way, but showing it to your friends and keeping it as very memorable item. Also you could make a Thread on this and put a poll with these options.

I would go for the hat

I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and vote for the hat. Red suits you, I guess?
I would go with the hat, not only to wear, but to display also.
I'd choose the Mario hat, since it's something that you can wear almost everyday and enjoy it as well. The punch-out game... that's for when you want to get some payback from those small insults about Doc not giving his chocolate bars to you.

My god man, get the hat.
yeah I think 'tis obvious. The hat it hath be!
I would go for the hat because you could always have it displayed and be a good collectors item. If I got the game, I would probably play it for a while then eventually get bored with it. I think the hat would be the better choice.
I'd go with the hat, simply because if you don't ever end up wearing it, you could probably eBay it for a ton.
Of course, if you do wear it, then you've got a kickass hat.
With punchout, it can always be released as a downloadable game sometime in the future. The Mario hat itself could be considered rarer since it will only be released to a certain number of people. Barring any kind of public release I believe the hat would be a better call.

the hat definetly
I, too, would go with the hat.
If you get the hat its not the kind of hat you where when you are outside and its not cool to wear it in your house which you may not do anyway, but if you get the game you can play it at your house or your friends house and its not like you share a hat with friends so id get the game.
But it may be for download and you probably wont find that hat in stores and if you do it will cost ya so the hat wins compared to a possible downloadable game
16 years ago
Aay, picka the hat!
I'll tell you what I told my buddy Cody last night.
It's not even a choice, go with the hat.
Definetly the hat, you could get Punch Out another time.
I'd go with the hat like every other person here :3

The hat would make an interesting addition to your gaming memorabilia collection, and I know you are quite the collector David. It would be cool to see what the game is like though. Hmmm. I'm not sure...
The hat,you are gonna get tired of the game at some point, but the hat will always be there, and if something bad happens to your wii you may lose the game.
go with the hat david, that's an instant collector's item. Trust me, you won't regret it.
ill go for the Mario hat :P, come on dude it looks awesome :)
Id choose the hat because how many people can actually say "I have a mario hat"
Is the game on a disc? If so, get that for the sake of collecting.
You won't wear that hat anyways. Plus... you can get Mario hats elsewhere I'm sure.
No it's not on a disk, from what David said.
"I could actually wear it making it’s usefulness and worth much more lasting than the downloadable Wii game."
Hat. Hat all the way David.
The Hat would be better me thinks.
MARIO HAT FTW!!!!!
cant get any better
I would choose the hat in a second!! i mean, you can still get the game at a gamestop or something... but how, i ask you, HOW often do you see stores selling mario hats??!
NEVER!
GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR! you are quite lucky indeed lol

I didn't think this was going to be a landslide, but go with the hat. Punch Out is fun, but it's just one character. That will get old quick, but a hat, man... it's a hat. That lasts forever... or until it gets lost or stolen or destroyed.
I would say the hat. I mean of of it's original gaming merit is worth was more than punch out, but I don't know much about punch out.
Mario hat
Maybe in the future Platinum members would receive Link's floppy hat. Now THAT would be kickass.
Take the hat and give me the Doc Louis code? :D
16 years ago
beat the crap out of doc for stealing louis's name...
plus I know where you could easily buy that hat at cons and/or online.
