During a January 2013 Nintendo direct, a project titled Yarn Yoshi had been announced for the Wii U. After displaying the game in a minute long trailer announcement, Yoshi fans were eager to learn more about this new title starring Yoshi. The last title that fans of Yoshi style platforming had recieved was the 2006 Yoshi's Island DS, making this new title seem all that much more appetizing.

In the effort of holding anxious fans over, Yoshi's New Island was known to be in development for the 3DS and unfortunately did not hold up to the expectation of core fans. Now with more details being unveiled about the Yarn Yoshi project such as the official title,Yoshi's Wooly World, fans now have a reason to be excited.

Is anyone really digging this yarn concept? From the gameplay shown I'm seeing a few things that are changing up the traditional Yoshi formula, like egg smoke trails constructing cotton paths in mid-air. It is also refreshing to see a Yoshi game taking bold strides towards a new art style, similar to the way that the original Yoshi's Island did.

...and I mean, anything is better than the pre-rendered garbage that Yoshi's New Island had, right?

We'll see when Yoshi's Wooly World releases in the first half of 2015.

I really don't know if I'm interested in this. The yarn thing doesn't really interest me, even if this is Yoshi.

It does LOOK nice, but the yarn thing doesn't really work for me. I'm sure it will be a smash hit for Nintendo.

I don't have a WII U and won't be picking one up but I must say this games visuals look incredible. Gameplay looks simple and easy but it sure looks nice.

A bit conflicting. On one hand, I liked Epic Yarn. It was a cute and fun little romp and had a pretty good amount of collectables to add to the level replay value. It was a fair game, I don't care what anyone says. I'm okay with a Yoshi game being based around that cute yarn feel. It seems pretty fitting considering how cutesy Yoshi games like to be. On the other hand, I don't like Yoshi games. I have never enjoyed Yoshi Island games, something about them I just find boring so I don't know if I'd play this either way. Maybe if Yarn Yoshi wasn't Yarn Yoshi's fucking Island I'd be more interested.
