I think you guys are way overreacting on Dead Island 2. I really think the whole tone of that demonstration was "we are going to fuck with you guys now." Every preview mentions the motion captured cat. Even if they do have the world's first motion captured cat, that's obviously not a big selling point of the game, but they're still bringing it up because they want to see how much the press is turning the whole demonstration around just to show the positives. It seemed to me like they were trying to ensure journalist spin by trying to bias the whole demonstration by showing a lot of garbage and unnecessary shit (like you said, it looked like a pitch demo) while finishing it off with stunning footage.
Meanwhile you guys just sound really negative about it because you don't want Yager working on it, and you don't see the need for it with Dying Light. All while seeming to forget that video games are about fun, and it seems to me that that is what Yager is doing, intentionally having fun with the press. I'm sure we'll get to see what the game really is in a few years.
Maybe it's just Frog Fractions 2.

Really enjoyed all the E3 podcasts guys, thanks for all the hard work and I hope you guys had fun. I was glad to hear you can fight the alien off a bit in Alien:Isolation. Hope the game is fun to play.

I really hope Dead Island 2 comes together. Yager are a great developer.
